Coronavirus: FG orders civil servants to work from home

As the federal government is stepping up its efforts to curb coronavirus spread across the country, civil servants have been asked to work from home as a precautionary measure against the virus.

In a memo issued by Head of Service Folasade Yemi-Esan, all civil servants from Grade 1 to 12 were asked to work from home with effect from Tuesday 24 March until further notice. While senior civil servants are expected to come to work, they have been asked to limit their visitors.

According to Yemi-Esan, the FG is concerned about the welfare and safety of all public servants just as it is about other Nigerians. The memo reads in part: “All public servants are therefore strongly advised to follow the measures put in place by the government to reduce the spread of the pandemic.

As a further step in controlling the spread of COVID-19, all non-essential public servants at grade 12 and below must work from home with effect from Tuesday, 24 March 2020 until further notice.” Coronavirus: FG directs civil servants to work from home.
