Senator Rose Oko, representing the Cross Rivers Senate District, died at the age of 63.
According to family sources, she died last night in a medical facility in the United Kingdom.
Until her death, she was a second-term member of the Red Chamber of the National Assembly and served as chairman of the Senate Trade and Investment Committee.
Born on September 27, 1956, Senator Oko was a member of the Federal House of Representatives of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), representing the Yala / Ogoja Federal Constituency in Nigeria’s 7th-ranked National Assembly. In June 2011, she was elected as the first female representative of her constituency and sat as Deputy Chair of the House of Education Committee.
She is the current senator representing the people of the Cross River North Senate District. In June 2015, she was elected as the first female representative of her Senate District. And he was re-elected in 2019.
