Nigeria Football fraternity mourns yet another defeat to death following the tragic departure of the Nigerian footballer and Super Eagles striker Ifeanyi George in a fatal accident.
The Enugu Star International Rangers have reportedly traveled with two others who are said to be in critical conditions.
He was on his way to Lagos from Enugu this morning, according to the information collected. The accident took place in Abudu just after Agbor in Delta State.
He had been injured with severe waist pain for the last three weeks and had been told not to drive to Enugu. He died at a very young age of 26 years.
Ifeanyi George, born on 22 November 1993, is a Nigerian international footballer who made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2017. Twice he donated the country’s jersey, but he failed to find the back of the net.
He had previously played for the Nigeria Professional Football League side of Enyimba in 2015 before moving to the Enugu Rangers a year later and spent four seasons with the Rangers.
Ifeanyi George was part of the squad when Enugu Rangers won the Nigeria Premier League in 2016, their first ever championship since 1982.
Recall that it was a Sunday, a few weeks ago, that Nasarawa United forward Chiname Martins slumped and died in a Nigeria Professional Football League match.
