Benue Governor’s Wife and Son Test Positive to COVID-19
Mrs Ortom made the announcement in a statement that she personally signed on Friday night.
Eunice Ortom, the wife of Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, her son and some of her workers tested positive for COVID-19.
Mrs Ortom confirmed this in a statement that she personally signed on Friday night.
According to the article, the first lady had gone into self-isolation with her son and all her family.
The statement reads, “A few moments ago this (Friday) evening, I received my result from earlier tests carried out on me and others by NCDC staff on routine screening at House, Makurdi who returned that I and my family, and some staff are COVID-19 positive.
“We have since gone into full isolation as prescribed by the protocols and will immediately begin the management of the treatment as recommended by the medical experts.
“While I have taken the opportunity to personally call anyone I can remember to have had recent contact with to go for testing, I urge anyone who has had close contact with me in the last two weeks and the public to go for screening and testing.
“I would like to stress that being COVID-19 positive is not a death sentence as evident from the many recoveries reported so far, so there is no need for alarm, but we should continue to be responsible for our acts in order to keep us safe.”
